We are always pleased to hear from architects, surveyors, and technicians who share our passion for conservation and ecclesiastical work. If you would like to introduce yourself, please send your portfolio and CV.
To introduce yourself, please email collaborations@swordsstudio.com, with:
A short note (this may be in bullet points) outlining:
- Why you are interested in working at Swords Studio
- Which aspects of our work most appeal to you
- Your availability to start
- Your current notice period
We only accept applications in PDF format. Applications sent in Word (.doc/.docx) or via online links will not be considered.
Any enquiries about advertised roles should be directed by email to the Studio Manager at the address above. Due to the volume of applications received, we prefer not to take phone calls from candidates regarding advertised roles. Please do not call the practice to check on the status of your application. We aim to respond to all applications within three weeks of receiving your email.
As a small, thoughtfully run practice, we value direct relationships with candidates and do not work with recruitment agencies. Agency submissions will not be considered.
Architect/assistant applications should be supported with a concise, carefully crafted sample portfolio (10–12 pages) including:
- One or more conservation projects
- An ecclesiastical project: either conservation, design, or a QI report sample
- Selected pages of technical details
- Extracts from writing samples
We see the portfolio as an opportunity to demonstrate both your interest in and understanding of our work, as well as your own sense of craft.
We value thoughtful introductions and keep speculative applications on file for future opportunities.
