Director & Co-founder

Michael leads the studio’s conservation and heritage work across churches, listed buildings and historic sites throughout England, alongside the ongoing appointment approximately 20 churches and chapels across multiple dioceses. With close to 15 years’ experience across well over 100 projects in the UK and Spain, he has developed a distinctive conservation approach: fabric-led, policy-literate and pragmatic, drawing on various conservation, restoration and adaptation theories, where appropriate, to secure the long-term life of historic buildings.

His heritage consultancy is grounded in a rigorous reading of planning policy, significance and risk, helping clients navigate complex heritage challenges with clarity and confidence.

Alongside a large portfolio of completed projects, he has prepared a substantial body of written work, including heritage statements, condition surveys, quinquennial inspections and conservation reports, developing a reputation for combining detailed fabric analysis with a rigorous reading of planning policy, significance and risk.
