Director
Michael leads the studio’s conservation and heritage work, combining a site-specific conservation approach grounded in SPAB principles with heritage consultancy informed by rigorous policy analysis and contextual judgement. He also serves as inspecting architect to several churches across London and the south of England.
At Michael Swords Studio, we believe that architecture is not just about creating buildings, but about using our experience and knowledge to help others. We actively look to get involved in helping communities, working on projects for accessibility upgrades and volunteering our services to help others.
We care deeply about historic buildings and the stories they hold. Our work is grounded in years of experience with listed buildings, churches, and sensitive sites, combining conservation insight with a thoughtful design approach. At Michael Swords Studio, we guide clients through each stage with care & clarity.
We believe architecture & heritage work is stronger when it is a team effort, and enjoy collaborating with other designers, consultants, creatives and practitioners from different fields. If you would be interested in collaborating, please feel free to get in touch to discuss your project.
